Outing to Urban Farm this morning. Thanks to friends who shared the information as I would have totally missed this lovely plot of land dedicated to people who like gardening but has no space at home to grow vegetable or plants. Similar to a community garden at chinese garden (2CG).
Little explorers looking for the farm and wondered if we were lost while following this nature trail since there isn’t any sign or sight of it until we came to this junction and I heard “There it is, mummy!!” 😀
Most of the areas are fenced up and protected from intruders. Along the way we saw some shelves for vertical farm, we can actually rent and grow vegetable or herbs of our choice. We were so tempted to rent one big shelf (SGD50/month min 3 months) to start but we didn’t as I am not sure how well we can commit to this as we need to attend to our small little garden on the shelf at least once a week. This vertical farm is really interesting, I think we might give it a try if time permits.
So, what have we bought in the end? As the girl is interested in growing her little garden and not to dampen her interest, we went with this less hassle and low maintenance using hydroponic method pot and seeds. These are wheatgrass. So, literally, we are growing grass, just that these are edible 🙂
Let’s wait for a week and see whether they survive 🙂
